Race a Philadelphia Eagle at Sports Zone

There is no doubt that Philadelphia sports fans are die hard. You can’t go into a bar without hearing discussions about the local sports teams. During games, fans flock to their favorite watering hole to watch the game and heckle anyone not rooting for the local team. Well, Philadelphia sports fans can now do more than just watch sport stars.

A new exhibit allows Philly sports fans to test their skill against sports stars. Philadelphia Sports Zone has created an exhibit that provides a real life sports experience. The Sports Zone is located inside the Franklin Institute. This new exhibit lets you run along-side world class runners.

You also can test your skills against professionals from sports like football. Professionals that you can test your skills against include Jordan Mathews of the Philadelphia Eagles, Brian Talley (speed skater), Tatyana McFadden (Paralympic athlete), Richard Browne (Paralympic athlete), Dawn Grunnagle (professional marathon runner), among others.

This exhibit is the desire to mix Philly’s love of science and sports. Larry Dubinski is the CEO of the Franklin Institute. He describes the though behind the exhibit as, “Because Philadelphia is such a steadfast, loyal sports city and world-renowned science hub, the decision to design an exhibit on the science of sports was a no-brainer.”

He continues, “The technological advances in all areas of science overlap in all areas of sports. From the latest designs in athletic gear and equipement, to the rise in concussions and increased awareness in health and safety, this exhibit is an important and relevant one to bring to our visitors.”

The exhibit features a track that is forty feet in length. A countdown allows you to get ready to race the professional of your choice. This goes along with exhibits that Sportz Zone already brought to the Philly area. You can try to surf or score a soccer goal along with virtual professional atheletes.

There is no doubt that Philadelphia is a sports town. Our area has also been home to many scientific advancements. This new exhibit brings these two worlds together. For all our die hard Philadelphia Eagles fans, bring the family and test your skills against Jordan Mathews. It is sure to be a fun time for everyone, while still enjoying sports that you love.
